The number of subscribers Netflix gained is quite high compared to the same quarter last year. In the second quarter of last year, 5.89 million subscribers increased. Analysts expected Netflix to increase around 7 million subscribers.
The number of subscribers brought Netflix’s total number of users worldwide to 277.65 million as of June. In addition to the subscriber increase, the company’s financial report also exceeded forecasts. Revenues for the second quarter of 2024 reached $9.5 billion, up more than $1 billion compared to the same period a year earlier. Net income increased 42 percent to $2.1 billion from $1.4 billion a year ago.
Netflix said that initiatives such as testing a new TV interface focused on ease of browsing have contributed to the platform. The company also emphasized that it is also developing its mobile gaming portfolio. In this context, it promised to introduce new games based on popular Netflix series.
He said that a multiplayer game based on Squid Game will be announced very soon. He also stated that the mobile game will be linked to the new season that will start late next year.
In this context, Netflix will start live streaming WWE Raw matches starting in January. Thus, it will increase its investments in sports tournaments. In December, Netflix will broadcast two special NFL games for Christmas.
